On The Road To Carthage, MO
Jun 13, 2015
|It is not unusual for us to have a restless night before a travel day but not last night. At least not for me. I slept like a log but did wake up early.
That was fine because it gets daylight so early this time of year.
We finished up the few remaining chores and pulled out of our Site at a quarter before seven this morning.
We stopped in the parking area to check the lights and do a final walk-around check before leaving the campground.
We turned on to Hwy 61 right at 7:00 AM this morning, in excellent weather, and headed south and west toward Joplin, MO.
The weather remained nearly perfect all day until we arrived at the Coachlight RV Park near Carthage, MO, just 5 and ¾ hours after leaving Hannibal.
We set up the RV and took care of a loose screw in a piece of trim on the RV.
Just as I finished up outdoors, it began to rain. It poured rain from the sky for 10 or 20 minutes, then stopped as the sun showed itself again.
Marilyn & I drove to the Sirloin Stockade in Carthage, where they have an outstanding buffet for 9.95 per person.
This was a late lunch or early dinner for us, and we made a stop to fuel the truck with diesel at $2.59 per gallon, on the way back to the RV park.
The rain began again as we left the filling station, and it rained really heavy, so Marilyn & I were quick to run inside where we put on our PJ’s and relaxed.
The St Louis vs. Kansas City Baseball game was even on TV.
