Dillon, South Carolina is on I-95 near the southern border of South Carolina with Georgia. We made this a short distance stop on 185 miles because we have 2 UConn basketball games to watch: the men at noon and the women at 3 PM. Also, after a couple of 8 hour driving days we can use the rest. Our satellite dish works great!
Mack and Holly have adjusted well to the road. They were a little nervous on the first day but then settled down on the days after.
Just before we got to Dillon we passed the 'famous' South of the Border retail outlet. I thought it was a big deal, and maybe it was back in the day (the '70's), but now it is just an aging shadow. The reviews said it was mostly fireworks. Thirty years ago it was a 'must see' combination truck stop, restaurant, and souvenir store.
Dillon is pretty rural. The afternoon temperature was 55 degrees and the sun felt great. We are getting into areas where there are plenty of campers.
