Today is travel day, but first I had business to take care of. My lawyer send me a bunch of documents and some of them needed to be signed in front of a notary public. So, since I had to travel the 8 miles and go through the main street of Newberry, I decided to go with my home and if I couldn't find parking near one of the few banks, I could go to the south end of town and park in a great big parking lot and either walk or bike to the bank.
I saw the credit union had two entrances/exits so I thought I could get into and out of their parking lot. But as I made the commitment to turn in, I saw there were too many cars parked and my only choice in front of the bank would have blocked off almost all of them. Then I saw a big Coca-Cola truck was parked in the back, so I figured if he could get in and out there, so could I. Well, when he left he had to make a very hard u-turn. He just missed the parked cars on one side and went over the curb and grass island on the other side. Uh oh!
Yep, I had to go into the back parking lot to the end to have my car in line with the motorhome so I could disconnect it. Employees of the credit union who had come out to see how/if the truck got out were now watching me. The manager had the employees come out and move their cars out of my way. I was then able to turn the motorhome around within that back parking lot and open up the parking spaces on one side of it.
After all that, I was prepared to find out they didn't have a notary public but I was in luck! She only charged $1 for each signature too! In Miami, they charge $7! Now, to find a FedEx drop box. The employees told me there was one on the corner of M 28 a couple of miles away. I took the car and found it. Once that business was done and the car hooked up again, my trip to Ishpeming was uneventful, but beautiful, since I went along Lake Superior for most of the way. I saw lots of RVs traveling the other direction - wonder if they're going to the east end and down into the lower peninsula of Michigan while I am still traveling north!
This campground is in back of the town's entertainment center/mall, so within walking distance there is a bowling alley, a movie theater, an RV supply store, a spa and salon, a grocery store, a brewery and pub, restaurants, and a gas station. I was welcomed with smiles and given lots of brochures for this area as well as for the peninsula I will be going to next. I will be learning all about iron and copper mining from this point on.
