Hillside in wine country

Sbragia Winery in Geyserville, CA

It was bittersweet leaving the Joseph Grant County Park this morning. We loved the peace and serenity there and of course the staff. As we were leaving the park, we stopped to watch a doe chase away a coyote that was very persistent in trying to get her fawn. She was not about to lose the fight!

We spent two nights in Cloverdale at a Thousand Trails preserve. We have a free 30-day membership to Thousand Trails so we will be straying in their preserves throughout Oregon and Washington. Cloverdale is smack dab in the middle of wine country – Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley and Russian River Valley. We stopped in town to buy lunch supplies for a picnic and hit the road with our trusty wine trail map in hand. The weather was perfect for a picnic lunch at one of the wineries. We actually enjoyed this area and the wineries more than our visit to the Napa Valley. The rolling hills are beautiful and the wine tasting fees are cheaper. There are over 150 wineries in the area, but unfortunately, we could only visit five of them!
