Phyllis & Stan...

Hey, don't bother the cook, I'm starving!....

Hey, we're on the road again! Actually, we left last Thursday & it has taken this long to get caught up & do this post.

We had a busy last couple of days in Vegas. Sunday we went for a massage, then came home & installed a new part for our bicycle rack, repacked the bikes along with a trolling motor that brother Larry gave us for our future boat purchase. Bonnie fixed a yummy roast for dinner & then we played a couple of games of Hand & Foot, a Canasta variation.

The next day we spent at the Whole Foods supermarket & then went to The Bulbman to stock up on a couple of hard to find bulbs for the 5'er. And of course we had to stop at Walmart just one more time! Then on home to BBQ steaks for dinner. Nice....

Larry repacked the underneath storage Tuesday & unhooked everything but our power. He also went to buy a new phone with new service from Verizon. We are hoping to get better coverage as we move around if we have the option of 2 servers, Cingular & Verizon. We struggled with Cingular last summer in the Dakotas & understand Verizon has much better coverage. We'll see. I met my friend Warren for lunch while my honey finished up some packing. Planned that well, didn't I??? LOL

Today is our final day here, so Larry took the truck to have it washed & have the tires rotated. He's had an earache the past couple of days, so I convinced him to go to quick care to get it checked out. Good thing, the right ear was very swollen & red. The doc gave him a prescription for some drops & an antibiotic. While he was gone, I packed up the inside of the 5'er as best I could making it easier for our departure in the morning. We played our last game of Hand & Foot & Bonnie & I whipped on the guys! Ha, 2 nights in a row. Luck was on our side tonight!

Woke up this morning to beautiful traveling weather! Now that it's finally time to go it seems rather sad! Our son Larry came to see us off & with hugs, kisses & a few tears we were finally ready. Bonnie & Lexie (her puppy) waved until we were out of sight. Wow. Well, we'll be back at Christmas.

We have to cross Hoover Dam coming into Arizona. A slight delay, as security has to inspect the inside of all RV's since 9-11. A good precaution I am sure. They were thorough & friendly & we were back on the road in no time. I am posting a couple of pics of the construction currently being done. Construction on the nearly 2,000 foot long bridge began in late January 2005 and the completion of the entire Hoover Dam Bypass Project is expected in June 2008. When completed, this signature bridge will span the Black Canyon (about 1,600 feet south of the Hoover Dam), connecting the Arizona and Nevada Approach highways nearly 900-feet above the Colorado River. Wow...

We arrived in Phoenix (Glendale) at 6pm. Our timing was perfect, as our friends were just closing up shop. They own Southwest RV, an RV storage facility, with a parts house & a garage for repairs. They did all of our add-on work for us when we bought the rig last year, solar panels, inverter, generator etc. If you are ever in the area & need some work done, we highly recommend them! We are parking at their son Jeff's home for the next couple of nights. That's a budget help & appreciated.

After we unhooked & set up a bit, we headed to the nearest Mexican restaurant, Ajo Al's. It was very cute & the food was great too! It was good to see Stan & Phyllis again & we made arrangements to have dinner with them again the following night. They recently purchased a new home. Wow! I just have to post a few pics of it! The backyard is just beautiful & I swear, Phyllis should be an interior decorator. Boy, does she have great taste! We BBQ'd chicken, visited awhile & then headed back home. Phyllis loaned us a couple of movies on DVD & we decided to watch at least one of them. We chose "The Pursuit of Happyness" with Will Smith. A fitting title for us, don't you think! It was well after 12am when we finished. Boy, we're whipped! It's been a long day. Off to bed.

Saturday is a short day at the shop, so we arranged to BBQ with Stan & Phyl again. I have never had BBQ'd pork chops before, yum! And, the weather has been a perfect 73 degrees the past couple of days. Thanks guys, we've had a great time, eating & visiting with you!

We are heading to Casa Grande tomorrow. Catching up with some really OLD friends there!! HA HA

Then on to Tuscon & Benson from there. We want to go to Tombstone & the caves before it is too hot. Wow, it's nice to be on the road again!
