We had planned to go to Sedona or possibly Wupatki and Sunset Crater National Monuments today. However, it was raining this morning and it was expected to continue for the next two or three days. This was not exactly ideal for photography. There was even a 40% chance of snow by tonight, so we decided to head south instead. We were on the road by shortly after 10:00.
We made a couple of stops at nice rest areas between Flagstaff and Phoenix. The prettier one was McGuireville Rest Area. It had a very nice desert plant garden and a memorial to war veterans. We spent quite a while there just enjoying the views and the garden and, of course, taking photographs. We had lunch and took some more photos at Sunset Point Rest Area.
We arrived at the RV resort in Casa Grande around 3:00. This gave us time to rest a little before going out and about. It is much warmer here than in Flagstaff, so the clothes I had on were a bit too much for this area. We had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Cracker Barrel.
