We're Home In Mission, TX
Oct 31, 2014
|It was still dark outside when we left Pincher’s RV Park in El Campo, TX.
We arrived at a planned fuel stop an hour later, at Victoria, and it was full daylight by this time.
We were back on the road pretty quick after fueling up the trucks.
As we drove south on Hwy 59, we noticed several flashes of lightning ahead of us, and it began to rain on us about 40 miles north of Corpus Cristi.
We drove in rain which varied from light to heavy, sometimes with greatly reduced visibility due to dense fog, for the next 3 ½ hours.
The rain did stop as we approached McAllen and we pulled in to Retama Village just 6 hours and 40 minutes after leaving El Campo.
Bonnie was there to greet us and showed us the house, which is beautiful. We will enjoy our time here this winter for sure.
Jesse & Ginger drove up and Jesse volunteered to help Mike and I get our rigs parked in the RV Ports.
He did a great job in far less time than it would have taken me to do the job.
I’m sure he saved the yard from some nasty ruts and probably saved the driveway from lots of twisty black tire marks as well.
Marilyn went right to work making the RV look nice inside.
I did my share of chores and it feels good to have things accomplished, but we still have a lot to do before we are finished.
The laundry basket is overflowing, the truck, car and RV are filthy dirty, We still have things needing to be unloaded, we need haircuts, and have to go shopping for groceries.
We had little time for rest before we both took showers and drove over to Jesse & Ginger’s Site.
They hosted a fine meal for the new arrivals.
Mike & Marian traveled with Marilyn & I today, and Bob & Janet arrived just an hour or so after we made it here.
Chuck & Coletta drove over from Harlingen to join us.
Thanks to Jesse & Ginger for being such good friends, and for the good food.
Now, our eyelids are slamming shut and we are relaxing.
We’ll enjoy sleeping with the windows open tonight.
Life is Good!!
