New Orleans ( The Big Easy)
Oct 24, 2014
|We were out of Byram just a few minutes after 8:00 this morning.
The weather was awesome and the traffic wasn’t bad until we reached the New Orleans Metro area.
After we turned off I-10 we were on a three lane street with bumper to bumper traffic.
Now, when I say three lanes, let me explain. It is more like a two lane street with markings making it three lanes.
We stayed in the center lane with cars and trucks on each side of us, only inches away.
After about 8 miles of that, we crossed the Huey Long Bridge and the traffic became less heavy.
When we checked in, we were assigned Site 17 because it was empty. The other Site Mike had reserved (Site 15) was still occupied, but they expected it to be empty by the time Mike & Marian arrived.
I had all sorts of problems getting backed in to a Site on the Passenger side of the truck, but was finally parked and set up.
By the time Mike & Marian arrived we were sitting on the wooden deck with a cold drink.
A couple named Jerry & Pat dropped by to visit for awhile, then Mike & Marian came over.
Shortly after that, Chuck & Coletta and Eddie & Jam arrived.
We all sat together talking and laughing, having a good time, and relaxing, after the stress of driving big rigs in heavy traffic.
As the evening drew near we decided to drive to “Perino’s Boiling Pot” restaurant, where we all enjoyed such delicious dishes as Oysters on the half shell, Fried oysters, Fried shrimp, Crab claws, Stuffed Crabs, Charbroiled oysters, Fried alligator, and Gumbo.
We still recall other fine meals at this restaurant in the past, with many other good friends who have met up with us in the Big Easy.
EDDIE & JAN DROVE US BACK TO THE PARK AND WE SETTLED DOWN TO WATCH AMAZING RACE, MAYBE SOME OF THE WORLD SERIES, AND THEN A GOOD NIGHT OF SLEEP.
SORRY BUT I CAN’T GET THE CAPS OFF, NO MATTER WHAT I DO.
GUESS I’LL TRY TO POST PICTURES FOR YOU TOMORROW.
LIFE IS GOOD!
