First time in Connecticut

RV lot at a rest area Danbury, CT..

All setup for the night

Rebecca adds Connecticut to our travel map

We departed Port Republic two days earlier than originally planned, we wanted to take advantage of two nights, one in Connecticut and one in Rhode Island. For those of you who are longtime readers recall that we, by our standards, can add the state decal to our national map only if we spend a night in the RV, in the state.

The first day travel was a bit longer than we expected, 260 miles to I-84 and the Information center/Rest Area at Danbury, CT. We didn’t know it at the time that we pulled in to get information, but when Dave talked to the information guy and asked the question about nearby RV parks. The nice man stated that since there were not any RV parks around, the state allows RV’s and even provides a good many spaces to park in for the night! FREE ! ! We chose a nice space on the lot, the flattest. Later in the evening we noticed the sudden appearance of a security guard. We ate our wonderful dinner Rebecca whipped up and were ready to go to bed for the night, when a travel trailer pulled in next to us. The guy unloads a noisy portable generator cranks it up, plugs in and leaves it on all night long. Great! We tried to go to sleep, it took along time. He must not be privy to good RV etiquette, as agreed to by many RV clubs. In the morning we got up, ate breakfast and departed.
