Halloween Walk, Then Back On The Road
Oct 19, 2014
|We still had some pre-travel chores to complete this morning, before we could leave. We started as soon as it was light enough to work outdoors and left Hannibal at 9:15, in the chilly 40 degree weather.
The sun was shining brightly and the temperature warmed to nearly 70 degrees by the time we arrived in Carthage.
The trip was uneventful, just the way we like our trips to turn out.
We were all set up and sitting down to a tasty meal by 4:00 PM.
We met several people we know, as a DRV Rally just ended last night and eleven couples were still here today.
Now we are sitting quietly with the TV for some relaxation.
Much of the stress in our lives has melted away and we are ready for tomorrow.
However, I must write something about our evening yesterday.
Marilyn & I met Steve, Jennifer and the two grandkids in Monroe City, and then rode with them out to the Indian Creek COE Campground for the annual Halloween Walk.
Campers arrive a week or so in advance and spend lots of money preparing for this event. It is hard to believe the extent of the decorations, scary and otherwise.
Hundreds of kids (Of all ages) walk the campground loops gathering the candy and goodies from all sorts of spooks and goblins.
We met many long time friends as we walked with the grandkids, and enjoyed the fun as much as the little ones did.
Marilyn took numerous pictures and I will try to get some posted to share with you.
Now, many miles away from the family, we are happy to be on the road again.
We appreciate so much, the many good wishes expressed by family and friends, for safe travel.
We hope to see some of you this winter, as we enjoy the Rio Grande Valley.
Life is Good!
