The Capper Nomads Europe Adventure travel blog

When you think of Holland you think of flat polder land and bulb fields however just south of our campground is an area called the Veluwe or Bad Land which is an expanse of heath, woodland and sandy dunes. The area is criss-crossed with biking and walking paths.

We decided to explore the area and by stopping at an information centre we were able to pick up a map of the various trails in the area. We decided to walk a couple of the 4 km round trails. Our trails took us through shady glades of beech trees and through heath land. The walking was easy and it made quite a change to be walking through trees. The woods are home to wild pigs and deer. We saw evidence of where the pigs had been snuffling the ground but no sighting thank goodness.

A very enjoyable walk.
