After what felt like a long time roughing it, we checked in to the Hilton for our free night and a over due shower. We not only got a room on the 24th floor with a beautiful view over Brisbane, but we also got upgraded to the executive floor which included, canapes, free alcohol and free breakfast. In true Walsall style we decided to make use of every thing on offer so took 8 cereal bars, one box of cereal and anything else we cud get away with. We also managed to try our hand at tennis as it was free :). We then moved to a lovely place called Kirkland house which was beautiful with lots of character.
The weather was so lovely so we decided to have a walk round the city. Our walk took us along the river to the Southbank where we sat and watched the world go by. We finished the day off with a steak and chips special deal at a local restaurant which was amazing!
On our final day we also decided to visit Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, as the name suggests its full of Koalas but also kangaroos, birds, Tasmanian devils and lots more. It was so brilliant to watch the koalas eating and playing, we even got to stroke one while we had our picture taken with it. The kangaroos were in a large field which you could go in feed them and stroke them, they are funny to watch as they move very strangely. Adam was also very happy we got to see our second Cassowary. This was by far the most cheapskate day we have had travelling. We decided to try our luck at the Hilton concierge area by pretending we were guests so we could get free luggage storage. This was then followed up by a free coffee at the Nespresso shop courtesy of our purchase of the Nespresso machine last year. Finally as we headed to Gold Coast we managed to blag our way onto a free train even though our tickets had expired. Overall a nice and cheap day!!
Overall Brisbane was brilliant and we got very lucky with the weather with barely a cloud in the sky!
