This morning, after my customary stop at Discount Tire, I headed for Columbus. I arrived at the RV park at noon but it was about 2:00 o’clock before I was finally settled in a site. The first issue was that the sewer connection was in very poor condition. Our wagon master, Bruce, dug a bunch of grass and weeds from around it and then repaired the part that goes into the ground. Then there was no electric power to my coach. I plugged into the other connection but still had no power. I called the office and the woman said that she would send someone to my site right away. No one ever came, so Bruce had me move to a different site.
The gremlins were active at that site, too! The electric power worked but the water connection was the bugaboo this time. The faucet is so close to the ground that Bruce had to dig around it to make room to hook up my water hose. What a job!
Tonight we celebrated the birthdays of John Cuthbertson and Janis Shull. Ruth Stehling had made a delicious chocolate cake for the occasion.
We had several visitors from a new chapter of Loners on Wheels which is being revived in the Houston area. John Cuthbertson is spearheading it. So far, they have nine people signed up. We were very happy to have some of them with us this week end. In fact, several of our chapter members who live in that area plan to join that chapter, too. We wish them well.
Today Ann Poole, Annette Dean and I had lunch at Nancy’s Steak House. I brought about half of it home for later.
At our business meeting this afternoon we elected our 2017 officers: Mikail Davenport for president, Donette Harpole for vice president, Ruth Stehling for treasurer and me as secretary for the club. We also voted by secret ballot for camper of the year. The winner will be announced at our December meeting.
Tonight we had dinner at Schobel’s Restaurant. They have an excellent buffet and the service was good.
This morning Ruth Stehling cooked breakfast for us. She loves to cook and we love to eat what she cooks! We all chip in to help her pay for the food.
