Our trip from Florence to Lincoln City, OR was along 76 miles of coastline in the rain so no travel pictures were taken. It took about two hours since there were several small towns along the way.
We are staying at the Devils Lake RV Park
at the very north end of Lincoln City just off of US 101. We have a long pull-through that is a little unlevel and the sites are pretty tight but we have a 50 amp full hookup with so-so free WiFi, very strong Verizon, and a clear shot to the satellite. We are in site 53 which is just the first of three sites we will occupy to get our full month's stay. Next Friday, the 22nd, we will move to site 56 for two nights then move to site 62 for the remainder of the month ending on August 10. Though we made the reservations six months ago, they still didn't have a site clear for the whole month at that time.
We haven't done a whole lot while here yet though we do plan on running back South down the coast and try to get some pictures we missed because of the rain if the weather ever gives us a bright, sunny day so the ocean will be blue for the pictures.
We have been walking every morning but one. The biggest problem has been finding somewhere to walk. The first day we tried the beach but found there was too wide a stretch of very loose sand we had to cross before getting down to where the water packed the sand somewhat and Doris was afraid of falling while trying to cross it. So we found a wide sidewalk just outside the RV park and have been using it - the only problem is the terrain. The walk entails climbing two significant hills each way and that will get your heart pumping!! By the time we get back each morning we are really breaking a sweat, even in 60° weather.
We have found a couple of good restaurants already. We found only one in Brookings that we liked and it was priced quite a bit higher than it should have been for what you get. We tried four different places in Florence and were not really impressed with any of them. We have tried two here (one seafood, one Mexican) and both were excellent - we may have to start walking farther and find some more hills!!
