This morning I went with Nancy Riley to run a few errands. I hadn’t planned to buy anything but to just “go along for the ride” … well, so much for plans! On our first stop I resisted temptation. Then we went to Central Market, where I actually bought some necessities (allergy meds and food); but we had lunch there, too. We shared a Greek pizza and big piece of chocolate cake. We couldn’t eat all the pizza.
Tonight I attended the Austin Symphony’s concert with Milton and Inge Rider. The program featured guest pianist Anton Nel, originally from Johannesburg, South Africa. He has enjoyed a remarkable career, beginning with his debut at age twelve. The program included Ginastera’s “Variaciones concertantes, Op. 23”, Franck’s “Symphonic Variations for Piano and Orchestra, M46”, Liszt’s “Piano Concerto No. 2 in A Major, S. 125” and Hindemith’s “Symphonic Metamorphosis of Themes by Carl Maria von Weber.” I thoroughly enjoyed the concert.
