It was only a seventy mile trip down from Estes Park to Morrison. We had planned to stay at Golden but the small park where we wanted to stay didn't have a site we would fit in available so we drove on about 10 more miles to Morrison and were happy to find a spot at the Bear Creek Lake Park just East of Morrison. We did have a third choice picked out but fortunately didn't need to use it. It is a very nice city park that has a very large day use area with a large beach area where they swim, boat, etc. They also have an archery range and horse riding stables. The campground has very large sites and 50 amps only - no water or sewage hookups. We figured we might be staying here so we put a little over a half tank of water in the Mothership before leaving Estes Park so we didn't have to mess with filling up here. We didn't do much at this stop but see Red Rock Park and just relax and watch a few Red Box movies and some preseason football.
We went to Red Rock Park on Friday. As many of you probably know, Red Rock Park has one of the most famous concert venues in the country. The outdoor amphitheatre is situated between rocks which gives it some of the best acoustics possible and the artists just love to perform there. The visitor center is very good and has a short film showing many of the concerts and interviews with many of the artists. The Red Rocks Hall of Fame is also there and lists almost every major artist in the country. The surrounding area is very scenic with all the formations that have eroded over the eons.
Tomorrow we head West across the Rockies to the West side of Colorado for couple of weeks in that area before returning to this side and Colorado Springs.
