|Steve is into his 4th month of drug treatment for the multiple myeloma. His blood tests are showing that he is responding to the treatment. Luckily, we have qualified for assistance to pay for the drugs. The Revlimid he is taking costs $7,222 per MONTH. My current drug plan pays all but $75 and we are getting assistance from the Chronic Disease Fund for all but $30. I am shopping around for a new Medicare drug plan and insurance because my COBRA runs out on August 20. There will be an immediate $4,000 copay the first month of the new drug plan and we are hoping the Chronic Disease Fund will pick up the tab. Yikes! It is almost a fulltime job just to keep up with paperwork and stay ahead of the game. Anyway, Steve is feeling as well as can be expected. Mostly he is tired all the time and doesn’t have a lot of stamina.
Well, we are preparing to leave the San Jose area and our current assignment as camp hosts at Grant County Park. We have truly loved being here. The park rangers had a going-away pot luck for us. We are going to miss this place and all the staff.
During the summer months we will be travelling through Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Colorado. We have already accepted another assignment as camp hosts at White Tank Mountain Regional Park in Maricopa County west of Phoenix for the winter season. One of our reasons for choosing that area is because of the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale.
The summer promises to be exciting. In addition to visiting new places, we have the birth of a new grandbaby, Danilo, due on June 14 to Jovian and Vivi and Diana’s mother’s 90th birthday on July 7 to look forward to. We’ll try and update our trip journal frequently during the summer. Happy travels!
