|We are finally in Vegas safe & sound! Woke up Monday morning to a beautiful sunny day even though it was a bit chilly & there were still patches of snow all around. It took us quite awhile to get everything loaded & the rest of the breakables put away. It seems the longer you stay put in one place, the longer it takes to get ready to pull out! Seems impossible we were here for 5 weeks, & even more impossible that we made it for four weeks without dumping! Now, we were able to shower & we did 90% of our cooking & dishes in the house, but we still used the sink & bathroom during the night & early morning. Good to know it can be done...
We are now parked at Larry's sister Bonnie's home. She & her husband Larry (yes another Larry in the family!) have a beautiful home in Henderson, & our 5'er fits very well on their spare drive area. They even have a dump site on their property so we have full hookups! We had to buy an extra 20 ft hose, but I was teasing Larry this morning about this being a very inexpensive space for the next month! Only $20 for the extra hose! It sure was good to see them, & our son Larry (YES, another Larry!) came by to see us also. Actually, we had so much stuff in the 5'er that we brought down for him, it was imperative that he come today so that we could move around!
Dad used to fly remote control airplanes out at Searchlight in the dry lake & he was initially reluctant to give up his planes & RC equipment, but reality has set in & there is no space to carry too much in the basement...so, it was passed on this afternoon. Hope Larry enjoys flying as much as Dad did!
We are making a trip the 90 miles to Mesquite tomorrow to pick up my car. My sister Joyce has been garaging it for me (bless her heart). I didn't want it to be sitting out in the blistering sun for months at a time. I am going to drive it for the month or so that we are here, & then it is one of the items we have for sale. My friend e-mailed me tonight to let me know that she has my formal dining room set, bedroom set & freezer sold for me! Yeah! A little less baggage to dispose of. We are so excited to be paring down. If you had asked me 5 months ago if I would be feeling this way so soon, the answer would have been a definite NO! But, it seems to be a freeing thing as time goes on. Retirement is so awesome. And the freedom that comes with it!
I took a few pics of the area as we left Ely headed for Vegas. It was really beautiful out there in the middle of nowhere. There is the coolest little canyon that you go through & I always enjoy that part of the trip best. We got a late enough start, that the sun was setting as we were pulling into town last night. The sunset was very pretty & it was hard to shoot out the window as we dodged the autos, billboards & big rigs, but I got off a few shots. Enjoy...
