THURSDAY, MARCH 8, 2007. JERICOACOARA, BRAZIL. Yesterday, Steve, the British owner of Pousada California in Canoa, offered us a lift to Fortaleza, which we gladly accepted. (A special thank you to Steve for his hospitality, barbeque dinner, and lift to Fortaleza; I highly recommend Pousada California in Canoa Quebrada. For a R$70 ($35) twin, you get a large room, A/C, refrigerator, satellite television, breakfast, Wi-Fi, fruit all day--great value.)

After spending the night in Fortaleza, Jeff and I caught a mini-bus to Jericoacoara (R$70, 6.5 hours), another fishing village turned tourist mecca. It's larger than Canoa, with a huge sand dune just north of town. We have found accommodation at Pousada Aqua (R$60 ~$30 twin). I plan to lay in a hammock tomorrow for some much needed rest and relaxation--travelling, believe it or not, is very tiring and I'm due for a rest.
