|We were up early, finished our coffee, and started getting the final chores done for getting back on the road.
We were still finishing up when Jesse & Ginger walked up, followed shortly by Eddie & Jan.
We visited with these good friends as we prepared to leave, then exchanged hugs and wishes for safe travel.
We sure miss these good folks already, but the good part is knowing that we’ll be seeing them before too long.
Jesse & Ginger will arrive in the Rio Grande Valley ahead of us and we expect to see Eddie & Jan when they visit a bit later.
It was a few minutes before 8:00 AM when we pulled out of the resort.
We stopped at Limon for a potty stop and I fuelled the truck just to make sure we had plenty of fuel to go the rest of the way to Oakley. KS.
Three hours after leaving Mountaindale we crossed into Kansas, and by the time five hours from our departure rolled around, we were fuelled for tomorrow, parked and set up at High Plains Campground, and sitting in the restaurant next door.
That buffet provided me with five pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, broccoli and cauliflower, pickled beets and radishes. I know that was a lot of food but it was breakfast, lunch and dinner for both of us.
Just for the record, my truck averaged 11.8 mpg today while Marilyn’s car managed to get 43.2 mpg.
We spoke to our daughter on the phone and she is anxious for us to get home.
Tomorrow we’ll go on to Topeka and plan to see friends, Tom & Berni, for dinner.
