Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

Marilyn & I both hated to leave Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National Park today.

With that in mind, we decided to route our return to Mountaindale, through the National Park, Granby, and Breckenridge, to keep us in the mountains as long as possible.

We left our temporary home at Deer Crest right at 6:30 this morning, and drove through the National Park, along Trail Ridge Road.

We stopped along the way because the road was occupied by two large Elk. Marilyn took several pictures as we waited for them to move out of the way.

We stopped in Granby for fuel, not because we needed it, but because we needed to wash the windshield and windows, to make it easier for Marilyn to take pictures through the glass.

The car only took 1.4 gallons, on the drive from the south end of Estes Park, across Trail Ridge Road, to Granby, Colorado.

We sure enjoyed the awesome scenery today, and have pictures to share with you.

It was about 1:30 when we arrived back at our home resort.

We then unloaded the car, put things away, and sat down to relax.

It rained on us just a bit before we reached Mountaindale, then later we heard thunder again.

We had a lot of fun, being together in a place that we love so much.

We have had the honor of sharing this magical place with many of our friends, and we hope that it left a positive impression on them.

For many people, it is the seashore which tugs at their heart, but for us, it is the mountains and canyons of the west, which calls us back time after time.

We hope that each of you find that special place which calls you back and fills your heart with a feeling of peace and wonder.

Have a great day everyone!
