Trekking with Daisy 2009-10 travel blog

This morning the first order of business was to see my ophthalmologist, Dr. Mark Plunkett. I gave him copies of my reports from the previous doctors about my eye injury. He said that the last doctor should not have told me that I could start wearing my contact lenses again. He wants me to leave them out and use Optiva eye drops six times per day for the next week and then return next Wednesday for a follow-up visit. He said that there is still some evidence of the virus and that my left cornea is scarred, which is why I can’t see as well as I used to out of that eye. I can’t read with or without my contacts or eyeglasses.

As soon as I had returned from my doctor visit, I had to vacate my site at Pecan Grove RV Park. Because my eyes had been dilated, my vision was not exactly optimal for driving – especially in the rain! I was feeling very insecure so I called Royal Palms RV Park to ask about a very visible landmark to help me make the right turn. I was relieved to arrive unscathed.

While hooking up, I discovered that the TV cable had been cut. I reported it and they have issued a work order to have it repaired.

Once settled, I called The MacGuy, a Mackintosh computer tech. He told me to try booting from the system CD to see if I could repair the disk. He said that, as old as my little Apple PowerBook is, it may be cheaper to just buy a new computer instead of trying to upgrade this one. I’ll take it to him tomorrow to evaluate it. I hope it won’t cost me too much.
