|Left Santa Fe today for Salida, Coorado to the Four Seasons Campground on the Arkansas River. Here, we spent the next three days at a site on the river and basically just relaxed. Salida is a town of about 5500 people. The downtown has a nice restaurant on the Arkansas River to relax and enjoy watching the locals playing in the river.
To get here, we drove up to Antonito, CO on the south end of the San Luis Valley and then headed north past the Great Sands Dunes National Park. At the end of the valley, we crossed a mountain to Salida. This is pretty much in the center of the Colorado Rockies. Salida is surrounded by several 14,000' mountains. Salida is at about 7,000'.
We stayed at the Four Seasons CG on the Arkansas River with a great site facing the river.
