|We've made several trips to Sturgis recently as we continue to visit the Ft Meade VA Hospital for Larry. Our first couple of times were early enough to avoid the bike riders but this past Friday we were in the midst of them for sure. The first full week of August is always rally week & this year it is the 76th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Of course last year it was the 75th & there were WAY more riders but a couple of hundred bikes in these hills get your attention! Requires great concentration & double & triple checks in your side view mirror blind spots!
Fortunately nearly all of our daytime weather has been warm & sunny but we do tend to build up & have a light thunderstorm many afternoons & early evenings. Helps keep the grasses green & pretty as well as hold down the fire danger. And I do love those high 70, low 80 degree temps! I worked 4 days over rally this year. Not as many as usual but we had appointments two of my normal working days & Larry wanted me with him for test results.
We've not done a lot of touring, waiting for Bonnie & Larry to arrive which is next Monday. So excited about their arrival. Wish ALL of our family members could come & experience why we love the Black Hills so much. Can't believe this is our 11th summer spent here at Custer Mountain Cabins & Campground. So much to see & do, we never tire of it for sure.
Well, over the next few days I will post 'catch up' pics & hopefully I'll regain some of our lost readers. I've really gotten bad about updating as I share too much on FB. I know how much I enjoy reading many of our friends blogs & am disappointed when they don't write often so I'll try & do better. Thanks for stopping in, we appreciate it :)
