Our campsite in Custer State Park

We enjoyed watching this Mountain Bluebird

We arrived in our campground in Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota after an unscheduled stop at an auto repair shop in Edgemont, South Dakota.

While we were at our campground in Wyoming Henry noticed the tread on one of our trailer tires was wearing out. He called a tire store in Rapid City, SD and made arrangements for us to get a new tire on Friday. While we were at a rest area on the way to Custer he checked the tire and it was worse. He was afraid we would have a blow out on the road any minute. We were out of cell phone range and about 20 miles from the nearest town so we headed that way with our fingers crossed that we would make it there. I found a auto repair shop on the GPS and called them as soon as we got in cell phone range. They stopped what they were doing, we backed the trailer into their lot and they put the spare tire in the place of the bad tire so we could continue on our way to Custer. They were great and only charged us $8.00!! If you ever are in Edgemont, SD and need auto work done, go to Stephenson's Automotive.

We loved the campground in Custer State Park. We had a big site and there was a huge grassy area behind the campsite. Custer is a huge state park with lots of wildlife, several campgrounds, and several scenic drives. After we got everything set up we enjoyed relaxing and deciding what to do for the next 2 days.

Mount Rushmore is a major attraction in the Black Hills, and Crazy Horse Monument is another popular sight to see. We went to both of these in 2006 when we made our first trip in the RV so we decided to just view them from a distance this trip and see some things we missed the last time.
