We had a continental breakfast at the wagon masters rig and then at 10 AM we set out on the bus for a day of touring NYC. First stop was China Town. Before we even arrived we drove though lots of the city with our guide explaining what we are seeing. We went to the Peking Duck restaurant for lunch. They served us a four course dinner with 4 different dishes on the main course. One of the courses was the Peking Duck, it was sliced and they made like Chinese burritos. We had so much food we could barely walk. After lunch we had to walk...... walked around China Town with our guide explaining everything. We ended up at the park in China Town. We had an extra 30 minutes and us and some others spent the time in the park watching the Chinese play games for money. We saw wads of $50 bills. We had a hard time figuring out what the game was and none of them spoke English.
Back on the bus we headed towards Wall Street. Obama was giving a speech at Wall street so it was a zoo. We detoured over to Fire Station 10, they were the first responders at 911 (right across the street). 10 of them died in the building. So we saw the memorial that is placed on the side of the building. We couldn't see ground zero but we did see the pictures of what is being built. Later we saw ground zero.
We then headed over to St Paul's Chapel. This is the church that George Washington prayed in at the start of the Revolutionary war. He also went to church there. Inside the chapel is stuff on 911 as this was the church the rescue workers used for rest and food.
Then we headed over to Wall Street. Still was a zoo but we did it anyway. We saw the New York Stock Exchange and Federal Hall where George Washington was inaugurated. Then we went to Trinity Church. Here they have a grave yard with graves going back to the middle 1600's.
Then we went to the American Express building next to ground zero. This building had a corner knocked off the top in the terrorist attack and 11 people were killed. The have this really great memorial in there for the 11. It is a crystal hanging on 11 wires, with 11 drips of water dripping down into the pool of tears. Around the outside is their names with a description of what kind of person they were. Light shone down from above into the crystal lighting the water and you could see the ripples of the water on the ceiling. From the second floor of this building they have a view of ground zero. It is now a glass window. Before it was a wall that got blown away. They were having a car show there at that time.
