The campground before the Memorial Day rush

Another view

Yesterday was another gorgeous day in Ohio. We drove from Dayton to Columbus early in the day and arrived at Buckeye Lake KOA in Hebron, OH around noon. It is another really nice KOA campground. There are lots of trees supplying shade, something that comes in handy when the temperatures hit the 80’s. We were a little concerned about where we would spend the Memorial Day weekend but this seems to be a really good place. The campground has a lot of activities planned for the weekend. So far there aren’t many campers here but one of the office staff told us that they are expecting to be full by Saturday, then the place should really be hopping. After we got set up we took a little drive to a nearby small city, Newark, OH. We stopped at the Buckeye Winery right in downtown Newark and picked up a couple of bottles of wine. It really feels like Memorial Day weekend and we got into the spirit and planned a cookout for dinner. After dinner we made a campfire and killed a bottle of Buckeye wine. It was a perfect evening, all that was missing was Sue and Scott, Bob’s sister and her husband, who we usually share “wine time” with on their deck it Berkshire. We are looking forward to doing just that in a couple more weeks.
