The 110 mile drive from Fair Play to the Pointes West FAMCAMP near Appling, GA on the shore of Clarks Hill Lake. It is also on the Savanna River drainage as the previous lake, Hartwell for our last stop.

This is one of our favorite stops and places to visit. Not just because our oldest son, David, lives in Augusta but the country and proximity to the lake and the facilities at this campground are simply fabulous! We'll be here for about 6 weeks through the holiday time. There are several real exciting things planned for us to do and see, so stay tuned and we'll bring photos and stories to you.

Since this area is on the main flyway for migrating birds, we take advantage of that occasion to feed heavily outside our window so we can watch them and help them on their way south. In the mornings, we sit in our easy chairs at the picture window to watch the birds. So far, we have counted 15 different species, including Eastern Bluebird, Pine Warbler, Cardinal, Dark-eyed Junco (slate colored), Carolina Wren, Red Wing Blackbird, Red Belly Woodpecker, and some others. We also have some squirrels coming around to steal the food when the birds are in the trees resting. . .
