The friendly ranger signs us in and we hunt for a space.

Its busy here, others like the area as well.

We find a nice space near the end of the line close...

You have to walk single file through the bush.

Don't know the name of these things, we call them beach trash...

pretty beach

We find horses every day walking.

The gals take their walk in the sand each day, great exercise!

one day we came across a recent beaching of a dead yearling...

There is no phone service available at the park, we have to...

Dave figures out the fishing puzzle for surf perch!

It was a very comfortable 94 mile drive west to the coastal town of Ocean City and the Thousand Trails park Oceana. We like this place for its small size and its proximity to the beach. A short 1/4 mile walk on the trail leads you to the beach and all that it has to offer. We're going to use this stop for finishing up a couple projects and Dave wants to learn to surf fish for the Redtailed Surfperch. We've been here before and can tell you that there are many things of interest to see, visit and learn. Within 20 miles the several museums and interesting downtown areas of Aberdeen, Hoquiam and Westport. At this time, it's Labor Day week soon, the park and the town will be busy, so we'll stay home more and let the vacationers have the town.

After a couple days here, Dave discovered how to fish in the surf for the Redtailed Surfperch. He's had great success. They taste very sweet and are fun to catch. He released back to the ocean many but only kept and brought home 3 each trip. The limit is 15! Next Dave is going to try for Salmon at the jetty which is at the mouth of the Gray's Harbor. He learned the salmon have recently started running.

Our first week was chilly (60 degrees) and foggy most days then the sun broke out and sent our temps up to low 70's, Yeah ! ! !
