We were sad that we did not get much hiking in, but it was time to go. Again, not a long drive as we only went as far as Tularosa to stay with ( camphost) friends Kathy and Johnny. We worked for them a season at Junction Creek in Durango. And it was they who got us into the manager gig in Pagosa. They have full hookups for us, but it is always entertaining to get in their driveway, as Don has to back in for ¼ mile. It was especially challenging today since they had also gotten the recent rain and the edges were really soggy. In all, Don did a good job, only leaving deep trenches in the driveway in one place.
After we got settled, we went inside to visit and to enjoy the excellent meal that Kathy had prepared. Johnny made after dinner coffee, his trademark, and plans were made for a busy day tomorrow.
Before we left, Don talked to our next door neighbor. He had a wind cage set up on his trailer. He said he measured wind from 26-34 MPH with gusts as high as 39. No wonder we felt like we were in a wind tunnel!
