Port Aransas to Houston
Jan 10, 2014
|We were up early but enjoyed a leisurely breakfast and a quick side trip to look at waves crashing on the beach, before driving to the Ferry Boat and heading north on Highway 35 toward Houston.
Marilyn was enjoying herself, seeing things and places she had not seen before. She took numerous pictures.
It rained on us nearly all the way to our Hotel near the Port.
As we passed through the Texas town of Angleton we noticed an eating place called “Duran’s BBQ”. There were several Police cars in the crowded parking lot and several of the Police Officers were talking while chewing on toothpicks. I asked about the food here and was told “They sure have some fine groceries here!”
Man were they ever correct!
The meat from the ribs literally fell off the bone when we picked them up. It was great!
The baked potato was huge! The Texas Toast slice of home-made bread was also delicious! That was a fine meal but we had no desire to go out to eat in the evening.
The rest of the Misfits arrived shortly after 3:00 PM and the fun began. The entire group of ten gathered in the room of Mike & Marian. The wine flowed and a good time was certainly assured.
Before you knew it, we boarded the shuttle bus with James driving, and headed off to Kemah and the Boardwalk.
We ate at Landry’s Seafood, and the food was all delicious.
Alas, I had no appetite, still being stuffed from the ribs and baked potatoes from the lunch we ate in Angleton.
I tried to order something less than a full meal but had way too much food.
The conversation and laughter was constant throughout dinner and all the way back to the Hotel.
We did receive a message from the cruise line telling us that the ship would be about two hours late tomorrow, for boarding, etc.
No problem because that leaves time for fun before we head off to the port.
Lots more fun is in store for the morrow.
Life is Good!
