A Day With Long Time Friends
Jan 9, 2014
|We were up early and it wasn’t long before we were ready to go. We made sure that things in the RV were turned off, like the water heater, all lights, etc.
I took the trash out and our kind neighbors from Canada offered to set the trash on the curb for us on Friday morning. That is appreciated for sure. It seems that all of the Canadians we have met are just super nice folks. It is a pleasure to have them visiting here in the States.
With everything loaded in the car, we walked over to Ron & Verna’s and gave them the key to the RV, then parted with hugs. Heinz walked over to give us a hug and wish us a good time on the cruise, too.
The weather was great as we drove east and then north toward Corpus Cristi.
We stopped at Walmart in Kingsville, filled the car with gas (2.5 gallons) made a couple of small purchases, and continued on toward Port Aransas.
As we turned east to go toward the Gulf, it began to rain.
Going through the edge of the city it rained harder and the fog decreased the visibility to less than ½ mile.
By the time we reached the vacation rental home of our friends, Don & Sharon, the rain had turned to a steady mist but the fog was much thicker, sometimes reducing the visibility to 1/10th of a mile.
Friends, Terry & Sherry were there when we arrived and soon more friends arrived. Sherry drove from San Antonio bringing Larry & Doris Ann with her.
Later, more friends arrived and things became even more lively.
A large table was covered with food and a good time was in full progress.
We spent a wonderful day with long time friends today. When I say “long time” friends, I mean Really Long Time Friends.
Some I have known since the 7th grade while others have been friends since High School. In any case, it has been a long, long time that these good people have been part of my life.
Their spouses are also wonderful people who have been friends for a long time.
So, we ate some good food, including fresh oysters, and visited all day, with lots of laughter along the way.
Now we are at our Motel. It is late and we have a busy day tomorrow.
Perhaps I may add to this blog tomorrow, including some pictures. We’ll see how the day goes.
Good times with good friends makes us appreciate the fact that Life is Good!
