Wreck of SS Maitai in harbour

We got in the day before yesterday 20 hours before we left. First impressions our good. The island is small at 42km circumference. Our villa/bure/fale is clean and we have separate bedrooms. The beach in front of us is protected and has large reef fish particularly trumpetfish and triggerfish. The boys are excited as they got to see a small shark.

On a rather sad techie note I have just worked out why our map had us circumnavigating the globe twice, rather than sticking in the south pacific. It relates to the fact that Tonga sits on the dateline. The king of Tonga asked that the day starts rather than ends in his country. The dateline reflects this but the line of longitude does not. Anyway I have sorted out this bug and our green lnes of travel are now correct.
