Our trip from Long Beach to Montesano, WA was a short 82 miles but still took two hours due to the constant twist-turny navigating around Willapa Bay on US 101 causing us to slow to 30 mph in a great many places. There wasn't a whole lot to see on the journey but we have included a few pictures anyhow!

We are staying at Friends Landing Campground which is really about halfway between Montesano and Aberdeen, WA. We have one of the few, if not only, 50 amp sites of the 18 sites in the campground. It is a very long back-in, a little unlevel, with water but no sewer hookup. We do have a convenient, even for a big rig, dump on the way out. The satellite was an easy sighting and we have good, not great, Verizon. The campground has WiFi but it is very slow, even when almost no one is here. The campground is between a small Lake Quigg and the Chehalis River which is a good sized river flowing alongside US 101 in this area.

Shortly after arriving we headed for Aberdeen, had lunch and then went to our first Wal-Mart since California back in May. Did I mention it was very, very warm here? Just how warm was it? Well, it was about 90° in the shade and 417° in the sun. The 90° is 25° higher than we have been living in for the last four months and just about killed us!! It is supposed to drop down in the 70s for the weekend.

We haven't done anything here but sit inside in the air conditioning both Thursday and Friday. Today the temps dropped about 25° and we spent a little time outside enjoying the cooler weather and I got a few things done around the coach. We have also managed to walk the 1.7 mile loop trail around Lake Quigg a couple of times. It's a nice asphalt path that is mostly in the shade with an occasional view of the lake.

We head for Auburn, WA, just below Seattle, tomorrow and a visit with my Aunt Wanda. We will be there until Thursday.
