Egypt in the Summer travel blog

Passport and customs at Atlanta were efficient and way over the top. Had to remove a pack of gum from my shirt pocket. Alice was frisked. But only three hours in the Atlanta airport, during which Alice slept most of the time.

Finally our flight back to Lynchburg was on time and uneventful, other than rain in Atlanta(! - the first we've seen since we left!) and lighting in the distance as we flew back.

Got our bags, called a taxi, and got to the house at 11:30. A couple plants and a tadpole had died. As far as we could tell all else was in good health.

From the 12:30 phone call in Cairo to the 11:30 arrival at the house, a total of 30 hours for the whole trip. In total it was a 31 hour long Sunday - the longest day.
