Dunnett and Daggs Amazing Adventures 2018 travel blog

A quick catch up with Mel Langley one of the Kiwi Golden Oldies girls at the stunning Takapuna Beach. A very pretty and busy coffee shop that provided a gorgeous backdrop to breakfast.

From breakfast we ventured up the motorway north towards Helensville. Why because we could! The countryside is stunning and quite a different shade of green. Randomly somewhere off the beaten track on a hill stood majestic at two sculptures .... a rustic brown one that looked like a banana sticking out of the ground and white monolith several hundred meters further along the ridge. Why? Who knows!

We meandered our way through a few country towns until we hit Warkworth.... aka Weld. It is a beautiful quaint town on a very brown but pretty river . We visited the site of McNamara Realty but no painted wall or anything of any resemblance of anything 800 wordish. Same with the supermarket .....

A visit to Countdown aka Woolies found us with two bottles of last night wine and some cheese and bickies for Happy hour.

We headed off from Warkworth to our destination for the night -Pakiri Beach.... as I sit here writing this it is serene, picturesque and absolutely quiet. The only noise is the conversation being had between Heather Karen and myself.

To say we are in the middle of nowhere after travelling the last 5 or so kms on dirt/ gravel road is probably an understatement.

Our cabin is sparse, tidy and still comfortable. The walk to the toilet may well lead to white bottoms popping up between the cabins as dark settles in... and the odd Chardonnay and rum is consumed.

The countryside is amazing as the rollicking green hills meander down to the ocean and “lake”. I cannot think of anywhere in Oz where we would see the same....

Picture perfect and so relaxing.

Tomorrow we head back south passing through Auckland heading to Rotarua where we will stay for 2 nights so we can experience the mud!!!

Photos tomorrow as they are not on my iPad yet
