Over the border we went into Queensland, first destination 'Minden' which is west of Brisbane. I had another friend I wanted to call on but this time I made contact with her first. It was great to catch up with Robyn who I worked with back in the 80's. Pete chatted to Ivan whilst Robyn showed me her soap & shin care making hobby/business. It was very interesting and she was very generous giving me lots of goodies which I will use on my trip. Robyn sells at the markets and online. A bit of a change for her from working in Head Office Accounting for CAGA Finance with me back in the 80's but I bet a lot more rewarding. It was really great catching up after all this time, maybe 30 years.

Whilst we drove through Ipswich Pete suggested we text friends we met on our travels in 2010 as they had family in the area. I sent a text and within minutes received a call saying they were staying at Ipswich Showground. How's that for timing. So we too ended up at Ipswich Showground and had a great catch up with Lorraine and Rob.

It was a great location, close to town and the Greyhound track was also located there so one night we all went to the greyhounds and had a meal and some fun, we joined in a $10 betting pool they run and had a lot of fun and even came away with $10 winnings so we ended up square. A good night was had.

The markets were held at the showground on the Sunday which made it very convenient, we bought fruit, veg and some meat. The majority of stalls were second hand 'junk' and some things we saw would be cheaper if bought new. Having said that we did buy a wine rack for the caravan at a very reasonable price and it fits perfectly in the cupboard.

Rob and Lorraine took us on a tour around the area as they know it very well, including Gatton and Grantham. We stopped for coffee at a cafe in Grantham, the cafe had been swept off its piers during the 2011 flood when Grantham suffered devastating damages. The cafe was put back on its piers and has now been renovated by its new owner Tony who is a friend of Rob & Lorraine. The Cafe is called the Floating Cafe and has just had its grand opening. He has done a great job. There are so many empty blocks where buildings once stood before the floods. We truly felt for the people of the town and what they had gone through.

Whilst in Ipswich we had some electrical work done on the ute so we have power to the fridge whilst we drive along. A good investment for the journey.

It was great spending time with our friends and getting tips for our caravan, places to go and places to stay. They were a wealth of knowledge.
