After six days at sea the solid ground felt like it was rocking and rolling. It was nice to be on land again, but it is always a bummer to think of someone else sleeping in our bed and staying in our cabin. Life goes on.
Two other ships were docked along side the Solstice, but the authorities here quickly and easily processed us all and reunited us with our luggage. All the rental car agencies run shuttle buses through the port and before 10 am we were on the road north.
The drive to St. Petersburg took about four hours and it was great to see some of our oldest friends when we arrived. Even though we see one another infrequently these days, there are some people you can just pick up with from wherever you left off. A much better end to the cruise than a quick flight home to winter.
