Boyd at The Breakers, the Vanderbilt's summer cottage

Newport Harbor

John, Mary, & Gayla at Marble House

In 1639, Newport was founded after a few people fell out politically with the people of Portsmouth, Rhode Island. If you wanted to get inside one of the grand Newport mansions during the 1900's, you had to be an Astor, a Vanderbilt, a Morgan or one of the other names included on Newport's exclusive social register. We all had shore excursions today visiting several of Newport's "summer cottages" of some of the "old money" famous people who only spent two months out of the year here in mansions larger than some of our entire neighborhoods. Tonight was formal night, so everyone dressed up and had a great time taking pictures and enjoying a little champagne at dinner and at the Captain's champagne waterfall! Tomorrow is Boston!
