Lexi and Hiro's Round The World Journey 2008-2009 travel blog

1770 look out

caravan park at Airlie Beach

On the second day we drove from Townsville to Airlie Beach. I used to work on Daydream Island and lived at Airlie for 6 months. The town has not changed much, still has lots of nightclubs and pubs with heaps backpackers. We enjoyed the night in Airlie Beach, then headed off to Rockhampton on the next day. We also stopped at Mackay, where we were attacked by Magpie. Lexi was scared, we also got lost a bit in Mackay, so we ended up in staying there for 2hours when we just planned to have a cup of coffee there...

Rockhampton was a little country town, we went out to find a restaurant to eat out, but town was dead at 7pm, nothing was really available, we managed to find chinese takeaway and 6 packs.

3rd day today we stopped at town of 1770, where one of our firends now works in. It was a beautiful unspoilt little town with great ocean view. We were so glad to make a detour to this little town. It was stunning. Then we headed to Bundaberg, well known for its rum, we had late lunch there. We were supposed to stay there for tonight, but it was still 1:30pm when we got there, so we kept driving further south, now we got to Sunshine Coast, sleeping here at Maroochydore, found nice carvan park. see you soon.
