Welcome to warm and sunny California! 21C - wow, is this ever great! We left Canyonville this morning with the temperature sitting at -1C, cold and frosty. As we crossed over the mountains into California, we watched the temperature gauge rise until it hit 21C at Redding - and not a cloud in the sky.

The drive over the Siskiyou's was a piece of cake. No snow, no ice, no problems. The roads were all bare and dry and the only snow we saw was on the side of the roads and up in the mountains. The mountain grades were far less severe than either the Coquihalla or the Fraser Canyon.

Our 'caravan'(the other 3 RV's) with Paul leading the way raced far ahead of us so by the time we wanted to stop(3:00pm) they were no where in sight. However, as we were passing the Rolling Hills Casino in Corning, we noticed that they had an full-service RV park. We used our Cobra radios to see if Paul and the group were in there and sure enough that's where they were. Casino was the big clue! So, we pulled in and parked right along side of the others.

Around 6:00pm, we decided to head over to the casino to check out the buffet. That was either good or bad depending on how one looks at it. Paulette thought the buffet was the best she had seen anywhere, I agree. An amazing selection - prawns, crab, fish, lobster, NY steaks, Cajun steaks, prime rib, seafood lasagna, assorted pastas etc. etc. etc. It had everything. And desserts - too many to even list. Everything was freshly cooked and it tasted great.

We headed over to the casino after dinner, again lost our $20 limit, then walked back to the 5'er for the night. Tomorrow looks to be the longest drive of our entire trip - about 6.5 hours to Bakersfield, CA. The weather forecast is for continued sunny skies and warm weather so that's great. Should be a nice easy drive.
