Whiteside Mountain

On top of Whiteside Mountain, NC

Blue Ridge Mountains as seen from Whiteside Mountain

There were lots of wildflowers along the trail

Another view from the mountain

We drove back towards Highlands, NC to hike Whiteside Mountain

in the Nantahala National Forest. Whiteside Mountain is located between Highlands and Cashiers off U.S. Highway 64. The mountain stands as a landmark along the eastern continental divide. It is made of granite and the face is a popular destination for climbers. The trail was steep going up but worth it for the views when we got to the top

. We could see the Blue Ridge Mountains

off in the distance.
