|Today was smooth sailing! We are elated to have our RV life back!
We shared our morning coffee and then I took the tire to a repair shop nearby. The problem all along was a valve stem, or more correctly, the fact that the nut holding the valve stem in place had loosened due to normal vibration.
It did cost $25.00 for the diagnosis, repair, air up to 120 # and then check for air leaks. I was just happy to have the assurance that all is well and we can continue our trip, hopefully with no more issues.
We left the Hinton RV Park this morning at 8:20 AM and arrived just 2 ½ hours later at the Tom Sawyer RV Park on the bank of the Mississippi in West Memphis, Arkansas.
It took only about 20 minutes to set up and then we put several lawn chairs out, rolled the awning out for shade, ate a bite of lunch, met the neighbors, who are two nice folks from Michigan, and sat outdoors with a cold drink and some snacks.
Both of us feel that we now have our RV life back again.
We had a message from a friend we haven’t met in person, that they will be arriving here around 3:00 this afternoon.
We also heard from friends, Mike & Sandy, planning a get together in Beaumont, Texas to visit and share some great Cajun Seafood!
Oh for sure, Life is Good!
Just because we know several folks will be wondering, I should inform you that yesterday, towing Marilyn’s car, we averaged 10.3 mpg. We had a light tailwind helping just a bit.
Today with almost no tailwind, we averaged 9.4 mpg.
In either case, that isn’t bad for towing the car behind the fifth wheel.
I also must admit that we miss our friends, Bob & Janet.
The last time we stayed here, we were traveling together on Bob & Janet’s first trip to the Rio Grande Valley.
On that trip we spent time in Byram, MS, New Orleans, Abbeville, LA and on to Beaumont, Texas, before we arrived at Llano Grande in Mercedes, Texas.
Around 4:00 we walked around the RV park here and then returned to our own RV where Marilyn fixed spaghetti with a spicy sausage sauce for dinner.
This is a TV night for us with “Dancing With The Stars” on ABC.
Tomorrow we are staying put here as it is supposed to rain.
We will just chill for a day.
Life is Good!
