Olinda and I began plotting right away. The last time we visited, we planned a trip on the Rail Runner from Belen to Santa Fe and back. This time we wanted to go to the Purple Adobe Lavender farm near Abiquiu. Don and I had gone there a couple of years ago, but Olinda really wanted to see it. We were supposed to meet Bo for lunch in Albuquerque after he attended a meeting. Our plan was to drive to see the lavender then stop to eat on our way home. We rationalized that by the huge breakfast of eggs, biscuits and gravy Olinda fixed. Unfortunately, we did not take into account the distance, which was quite a bit further than we thought. Plus the weather, with threatening rainclouds all day long. Fortunately there was no rain while we were there, but we were too late in the season, and the majority of the flowers had already been harvested. So instead of seeing a purple field, we saw a field of big green balls. Still pretty, and the aroma was delicious!
We each bought a little something. I took a couple of pictures, and we headed for dinner and home. Dinner was at Tomasita’s at the train station in Santa Fe. Always good food and good margaritas.
