Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

We were up early enough to have our coffee before starting those last minute chores we need to complete before we hit the road.

Ken & Jean and then Jesse & Ginger arrived to say “So Long”.

It is always sad to leave a place you love to spend time, and to leave good friends behind. There were hugs and wishes for safe travel as we headed out.

It was exactly 8:20 AM when we left Mountaindale.

We traveled in excellent weather today and arrived at High Plains Campground 4 ½ hours after leaving Mountaindale. We did lose an hour due to the time change from Mountain time to Central time.

Only five hours after pulling out of our summer home, we had arrived at Oakley, filled both vehicles with fuel, checked in at the campground, and were all set up.

I have to tell you about filling up with fuel. The truck took nearly 29 gallons of diesel fuel and cost nearly $114 to fill it up.

Marilyn followed me in her little car today and she also filled up when I did. Her car took 5 ½ gallons of gasoline and the cost to fill it was just under $20. Now if we could only figure a way for her car to tow the RV. LOL

Tomorrow we’ll be on the road to Topeka. Jesse & Ginger will also be on the road, heading over the same path we traveled today.

This is a short journal entry because we have so little to write about, other than our daily trip.

We’ll check in with you loyal readers again tomorrow. For now we’ll leave you with a simple reminder that Life is Good!
