Well Terri suggested an early start as the forecast was for strong easterly winds and so we hit the road at 6:15 am . Bruce and Dee Dee had to ride out later as Bruce was on cooking duty so their ride promised to be a bugger. Well everyone had a hard day. We heard that many could not average even 15k/h as the wind just beat you down. Our early start gave us 30k of relative light winds and that got us to Chamberlain where we stopped for a big breakfast as the large oatmeal was wearing off. Bacon, eggs, toast and home fries, a meal fit for a king and certainly appreciated. Then off toward Regina with the winds gaining strength and us losing legs.
Certainly the toughest ride to date on tour but our early start got us to camp by 3 pm while many didn’t make it until almost 7 pm. That gave us time to set up camp, do a liquor store run for much needed whisky and rum and to get the laundry done! Great to have some of the chores done to relieve the pressure for our rest day tomorrow.
