Chesapeake Bay was a nasty place as we set out bright and early and got progressively nastier. The spray found it's way all the way up into the flybridge and we discovered some previously undetected leaks downstairs. I was hanging on and attempting to meditate on the way in orded to keep calm. Time can go slowly when you're in rough water but eventually we arrived in Annapolis.
Good news - it's the Annapolis Boat Show and we are pretty excited to be here. Bad news -every boat in the Eastern States must be here, no mooring balls available, nowhere to anchor and marina rates jacked sky high for the event.
We took the water taxi over to the boat show and enjoyed browsing around. We saw Bob Bitchin and wife Jody from Latitudes and Attitudes Magazine and met Natalie from Passagemaker Mag who told me that my article would be printed in next March's issue. What a wait!
Got soaked coming home in the water taxi due to the rough weather and had to spend another night at the overpriced Annapolis Landing marina because it was too windy to head out.
The heavy rain continued all night and into the next day. John took the marina courtesy car into town for groceries while I did our laundry. Then we caught the water taxi again and headed back downtown to explore Annapolis. The streets were a sea of red and yellow with hundreds of boaters decked out in their raincoats, or foul weather gear in boater's lingo. Seems like there are only 2 colours that boaters wear - red and yellow. We each have a red raincoat but mine was lined and way too hot for this climate so my thoughtful hubby bought me a new light weight yellow one while he was out shopping. What a sweetie. We fit right in to the colour scheme, him in red and me in yellow. We could not resist the all you can eat Crab leg lunch at Buddy's Crab and Ribs. MMMM. How will I ever maintain my girlish figure with all this delicious seafood?
