|I think I told you that our park is right on the Ocklawaha (Ock-la-wa-ha) river on one side ant the Ocala National Forest on the other... They also rent out canoes, kayaks, and my favorite, the pontoon.... Today four couples rented the pontoon for a four hour trip up the river... The river runs north so we went against the waves toward Silver Springs. What a fantastic day we had..... The river runs through the forest and many, many springs... The water turns the most beautiful green when you come upon a spring and you can see all the way to the bottom... It is hard to describe so instead I took 272 pictures.... I will try to limit the ones I put up to show you but it will be very hard... We all packed a lunch and cast off time was 11:30 this morning... We didn't have an anchor on the boat so we went to one of the boat launchs to tie up and eat our lunch.
Birds, alligators and turtles were everywhere but we didn't go far enough to find the monkeys... I can promise you that next time we will.... Yes there are monkeys on the islands and many times they drop down right in your boat..... We really want to see them.... They are leftovers from years ago when they brought in monkeys while filming the Tarzan shows here... The monkeys stayed and reproduced so we still have quite a few....... One of the alligators that we say in the water was huge.... We were glad that we were on a pontoon and not in a canoe, although we have heard that they pretty much leave you alone..... Not sure if I want to find out though.
Come join us as we go "Cruzin' down the River on a Thursday afternoon."
