The weather forecast was for 94 degrees causing us some concern for a mostly slow climbing drive heading north, so we departed Desert Gold RV early, about 8 a.m. We are glad we departed and put as many miles under the wheels before it got hot. The 265 miles went smooth and quicker than we thought it would. Even with an hour break for lunch at a truck stop in Kingman, AZ, we were backing into our space at the Desert Eagle RV Park at 2:30 p.m.

Note, we don't like Las Vegas. But, we have a grandson, Jordan who lives here. Thankfully, he doesn't work in the gaming industry. For our longtime readers, you'll remember it was Jordan who came out east and spent 7 weeks with us back in summer of 2008.. He's all grown up, graduated from high school. And so we've stopped here for a quick visit.

In this update you'll see many pictures of our drive through the Arizona desert. Among them is a picture of "The Golf Ball House", it's in our Roadside Americana book, Dave received it from his crew upon his retirement. We always find interesting things to see on a drive through the desert southwest.
