Home Again at Mountaindale
Jun 3, 2013
|We tried to be relaxed and take our time getting started this morning, but the anxiety and desire to be at our destination urged us to get busy.
We left High Plains Campground in Oakley, KS right at 7:30 AM, which was only 6:30 Mountain Time.
We stopped for fuel at Limon because we had to fight a strong quartering headwind all the way, causing my fuel mileage to fall to 8.1 mpg for the final leg of our journey.
Marilyn spotted a snow capped mountain (Pikes Peak) from 82 miles away and we began to feel at home again.
It sure felt good to pull in at Mountaindale RV Resort at 11:30 AM, after 5 hours on the road.
Ken & Jean, Jesse & Ginger, Mike & Marian, and Chris & Gia all greeted us, as did David, Rachel, and Keith, who also greeted us at different times, making us feel right at home.
We set up the important things and then left some items for tomorrow. Actually it will take us several days to get settled in and to have things set up the way we want.
Keith came over to hook up the Satellite TV for us, just as I was getting ready to take a shower. By the time we had the TV system all set up, the gang was gathered at Jesse & Ginger’s Site for a cookout.
I washed up, put on a clean shirt, and joined the group.
The food was great, the company even better, and we enjoyed ourselves a lot.
The weather is awesome and we are now sitting here with the windows open, a nice breeze blowing, and a perfect temperature.
We are super tired because we have started to relax and allow the stress of travel to melt away.
We are in our summer home and ready for whatever life brings.
Before I sign off with this journal, I want to shift gears for a moment and humbly ask you loyal readers for your prayers for our friends, Bob & Janet and their family, especially their daughter, Kelsey. They face their issues with courage and hope and it is the love and support of friends and family which will help them to get through the struggle ahead.
I thank you for your prayers for this wonderful family.
Remember dear readers, that Life is Good!
